Loughborough Lightning sign Sam May from rivals Wasps Netball

Loughborough Lightning have signed Superleague champion goal-keeper Sam May from nearby rivals Wasps.
May plied her trade at Wasps for the previous three decades and competed in 3 successive Grand Finals.
Before shifting to Wasps to their inaugural season in 2017 the Australian 6ft tall defender took to the court for the Hertfordshire Mavericks. She subsequently proceeded to acquire titles with all the gold and black.
The 32-year-old is eager for the struggle ahead, after making the move to Lightning.
“It’s very exciting, it’s a brand new chapter for me personally. I’ve had the privilege to play Wasps and Mavericks in the past and I think this is a terrific opportunity to find out what I could bring on the side,” she said.
“Loughborough are following the title and I am hoping I can contribute to that aim, but also off-court I do a whole lot of training and hope that my understanding and experience as a participant and trainer can also assist with the pathway setup here at Lightning.”
Despite the history between the sides, May is optimistic the fans will accept her, although wasps have pipped Lightning into the article in two consecutive Grand Finals.
“Hopefully the fans are fine to me! That is a brand new journey and I’m a participant that people like to see play. I’m hoping I bring something fresh to the side and can present my imagination out on daddy,” she explained.
May joins Ella Clark as the Lightning player that is second to sign for the new season.
